Driving Rain
04:15
|
|||
Those little lines, when you smile
And your eyes, just a little wild
Oh to look, upon your face, to know, your sweet embrace
I feel its real, its oh so plain, in the driving rain
Thick mist of night, o'er a sleepy town
A dusky light, as it showers down
You looked up, into my eyes, and oh, to my surprise
You feel it too, oh just the same, In the driving rain
But for the storm, there's not a sound
Each others arms, held us around
A time sublime, torrential tryst, precipitate, the perfect kiss
Wild desires, all unconstrained, In the driving rain
You feel it too, oh just the same, In the driving rain
I feel its real, its oh so plain, in the driving rain
Wild desires, all unconstrained, In the driving rain
You feel it too, oh just the same, In the driving rain
I feel its real, its oh so plain, in the driving rain

Whisper on the Wind
03:45
|
|||
I hear her whisper on the wind
I see it all go down again
I feel the weight of my sins
Bearing down, on my soul, where I lay
I feel the sun beating down
the vultures circle around
I still hear the sound
of her cries, in the night, where she lay me down
soft sweet sighs in the wind
I feel the burning of the sand
Im lost in this wasted land
I feel the weight of it in my hand
I brought it down, to the ground, where she lay
In dust I see fear rise,
I know my time is nigh,
I still see that violet sky
In the cold, dark night, where I lay her down,
Her eyes last light, fires burning out,
Her soft sweet cries, on the cold, cold ground,
Her breath, a whisper on the wind
I hear her whisper on the wind

Rattlesnake Ridge
05:09
|
|||
My life’s been pretty tough, its treated me so rough, oh, what a world!
I almost lost it all, the reason for my fall, was just a girl
But my momma was real smart, didn’t raise no fool
Get a job, work real hard, stay in school
Have a little faith, don’t live in fear
Starting at rock bottom, it only gets better from here
Find a good woman, get yourself hitched
Leave all your troubles, down in the ditch
Seek out my fortune, drink from the cup
Gonna have it all, when I’m way way up…. Up on Rattlesnake Ridge
She waltzed into my life, brought me only strife, oh, what a girl
She picked apart my heart, played me like a harp, Set me a-whirl
Oh, mama I am through, I’m tired of being true, I’m outta here
Head back out on the road, lighten up my load, I need a beer

Red Hill Blues
04:26
|

I got the Red Hill Blues, and I don't know what to do
I got the Red Hill Blues, and I don't know what to do
You know my baby's gone, and I'm all alone
as I'm walking round the bend
You know, life ain't the same, and I'm to blame
Sure could use a friend
I'm falling fast, I thought that love would last
Let he who has not sinned
I crossed that line, it happened all the time
I'm all alone again

Barstool Prophet
04:58
|
|||
Hear the lies of the barstool prophet, the smell of bourbon and despair
The sound of neon buzzing, and I know I’ll see you there
Feel the carvings worn smooth on the bar top, black windows turn noon into night
The jukebox wails out a country cliche, The bar’s fool get drunk on your right
He’ll be a rich man when his ship comes in
a strong man when she calls, be a wise man when he’s older, and buy drinks for all
As we drink alone in our dark merciful home, the company I find quite alright
All of my fears, all my wasted years, before death I hope to find life
Within every man lies a poet, within every truth hides a lie
Distracts from a future, without a chance, A miracle flashes its light
For all my friends

Sun In My Eyes
05:10
|
|||
Whatever happened to the Sun-man? Whatever happened to the rain?
Whatever happened to the starlight? But still I love you just the same.
Whatever happened to the Moon-girl? Whatever happened to her shade?
Was it lost all up in darkness? My love for you will never fade.
Those northern lights, make your eyes shine bright
And as my world, begins to twirl, the sun gets in my eyes
Whatever happened to the fey queen? And what it is that she became?
All that shimmering and stardust, With our hearts all up in flames
Whatever happened to the changeling? And the one they stole away?
All afar from kith and kindred, from your side I'll never stray

Eyes Wide Open
04:07
|
|||
Lightning flash, it breaks the sky
I see everything, but not the answer to why
I quicken my pace, along the rocky path
I drift to sunnier days, avoiding heavens wrath
Then the raindrops fall, drops kiss the grass
My heads flung back, and I start to laugh
I walk out in the storm with my eyes wide open
I walk right out into the rain
I’ve been reborn and my eyes are wide open
My life won’t ever be the same
Behind my back, as I walk on
I still see a face, I sense whats still to come
Thunder clap, it shakes my bones
I’m traveling light, is there time to make it home
Then the raindrops fall, first signs of spring
My heads flung back, and I start to sing
I walk out in the storm with my eyes wide open
I walk right out into the rain
I’ve been reborn and my eyes are wide open
My life won’t ever be the same

Paradise Lost
05:34
|
|||
Sun sets slowly down in Baja, palms drift lazy in the breeze
Sure sounds great, but its far too late, for paradise lost beside the sea
Snow falls heavy in the Rockies, outdoor lovers holy grail
But they sold their souls, for land and white gold
Now a highway runs through Vail
We had it all, we had it all, just like the angels, before the fall
We had it all, but we had to fall, we had it all, so hear the call
Majestic mountains, spacious skies
Natural wonders to be seen
From native hands, we took these fertile lands
And paved right over the American dream
Planet Earth, we call her mother, ’cause she gave life to us all
Its not to late, we can still change her fate, we can still prevent the fall
We’ve got it all, we’ve got it all, just like the angels, before the fall
We’ve got it all, but we had to fall, we’ve got it all, so hear the call
Hear the call

Johnny Got His Gun
04:34
|
|||
Johnny got his gun, went off to fight the war
They told him many things, about what he’s fightin’ for
For those that would be free, to spread Democracy
He’s an American and a patriot to his core.
He likes to hear good music, he likes to drink his beer
But not to see his unborn child, thats his greatest fear
He hugged and kissed his wife, then volunteered his life
And left behind the things he held most dear.
The army took young Johnny, sent him to the desert sands
To those poor folks who need us there, he’s proud to lend a hand.
Some thanked him for his deeds, others failed to see the need,
And fought to get poor Johnny from their lands.
Johnny did his duty, put his heart into the fight,
And prayed to god the politicians know their wrongs from their rights
Thats the last thing on his mind, when he heard that artillery whine,
He heard it’s crash and saw a blinding light.
When he woke it all was dark, and he couldn't hear a sound
But Johnny's still alive, he wants to sing and dance around,
But that is not to be, he can't hear, or speak or see
With no arms or legs, he'll never touch the ground.
As he realized what happened to a man that once was whole
“Why give to me this cruel fate” he asked God to let him know,
He took a long deep breath, made his choice between life and death,
H let go of hope, despair filled up his soul
But one morning came the sunrise, its warm touch against his skin
And the cool kiss of a teardrop, burst his bubble like a pin.
Then a finger on his chest spells out, Merry Christmas,
The spark of hope rekindled deep within.
To the generals and politicians, in morse code he told them well,
I want the world to know what war can do, to my life its made a hell.
He waited long for their reply, came at last and made him cry:
“You're a secret, son, your tale we'll never tell”.
Johnny got his gun, went off to fight the war......
